In this sequel to A Court of Thorns and Roses, Feyre and Tamlin are trying to return to their lives from before Under the Mountain, but they find that they've both been changed by their time as Amarantha's prisoners. And Feyre's bargain with Rhysand hasn't even been enforced... yet. When Rhysand finally appears to collect on her promise, Feyre is taken to the Night Court where she starts to realize that things are not always as they appear.

Lately, I've been reading several books at once (Kindle, physical, often audio as well), but I could not put this book down! I wasn't interested in my audiobook (although I kept checking the library to see if this one was available so I could listen when I couldn't read) and I haven't started a physical book since I started ACOTAR. This middle book certainly did not suffer from it's place in the series, in fact, it was stronger than the first (and I'll reserve judgement on the third until I finish it, of course).

Since I'm coming into the series late, I don't feel that it's much of a spoiler anymore to say that I absolutely love Rhysand. His character is so complex and well written... The subtle hints at his true personality and the realizations that Feyre makes about him. But Feyre also goes through many changes in her time with him and becomes a strong and confident woman.

"Lucien backed up at step. 'What did you do to yourself?' I gave him a little smile. 'The human girl you knew died Under the Mountain.'"

While I originally borrowed these books from the library, I plan to buy a copy of each for myself - once I can decide whether I want them on Kindle, hardcover or paperback. If you have not yet read ACOTAR, do yourself a favor and give it a try so you can pick up this book as soon as you finish it!
