Highlights:
I loved both Vincent and Wesley's character immediately and the books premise. Vincent a lonely dejected vampire and Wesley a grieving son looking to get closure and revenge for his mother's death. I'm obsessed with analyzing characters and both Vincent and Wesley are so interesting with how they parallel and contrast with each other that it felt like a special treat for my brain. They way they viewed the world because of who they are was so different and it gave you such a peak into how much identity can change your understanding of reality. I also loved how this story showed how marginalized people are stereotyped, fetishized, and shut out of society. This was written very well especially using the contrasting perspectives between Vincent and Wesley and how oblivious privileged people can be to how the minorities are treated.

Lowlights:
I feel as though there is a lot of repetition of internal character motivations in the beginning. We heard Wesley say "I am doing this to lure Vincent in and get revenge for my mother" so many times in his internal monologue that it feels unnecessary. I don't think readers need to be reminded multiple times a scene.
