Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
by J.K. Rowling
Goblet of Fire is the first book that takes more than a day to read (unless you do nothing else all day). I feel that it's the first book with truly complex storylines. And while I've always had great love for our trio, you can tell by Goblet of the Fire that Rowling is so used to them and knows every aspect of their personality. Which is the evidence of her great writing. Harry's never really had an easy life, but Goblet of Fire really steps up the challenges (literally), which are comparatively easy with what he'll need to face in the rest of the series.
The ones spot of the book I really identify with, is Harry's procrastination with the egg. I definitely identify with that, considering I can't help but procrastinate everything. It makes Harry seem like a real teenager, and if you make a character seem real despite living in a magical world, then that's great writing. (I'm such a Rowling fangirl)
