I feel bad for this novel because there is no way that everyone doesn’t think of Boyne’s last book— The Hearts Invisible Furies. Which for many is an all time favorite; including myself.

But this novel does the same thing, just shorter and with a different protagonist— who instead of loving we all hate. Maurice Swift is a parasite. He takes what he needs and then discards the giver. He is ruthless, cunning and downright horrible, but I could not help but to love the story of him. Boyne is a masterful story teller and everything he writes will end up in my hands. Maybe I’ll start reading them right away instead of waiting two years each time!
