✨️ RuPaul = Resilience. Kindness. Beauty.✨️

I've never even watched a single TV show with RuPaul in it. I knew nothing about the drag queen TV legend that he is. For this reason,  I decided to pick this book up to gain inside into his childhood and rise to fame. I was intrigued by what influenced him and any struggles he faced as a queen black man.

A few thing stood out for me:

✨️ RuPaul was destined for stardom. I had assumed that RuPauls name was a stage name. No. His mum visited a psychic while pregnant and who promptly declared you are carrying a boy and he is bound to be famous. With that in mind she gave him the name Ru Paul. "Ain't another motherfucker alive with a name like that" Fame for him was less than a dream. It was a predestination.

💙 RuPaul's relationships with men tended to be with charming, handsome men, those who were completely emotionally unavailable to him, much like the relationship he had with his father. This comes up a lot in the book. The impact his relationship or lack of with his father had on him.

I'm glad I've read this one. It is a fascinating insight into life of a queen black kid come global drag queen superstar and pop culture icon. I'm so glad RuPaul found his seat in the house of hidden meanings.  #iykyk

Peeps, I do recommend checking this one out for 14 Chapters of storytelling tenderness,  wisdom and wit.
