The Encyclopedia of Country Living

Feelings on this are mixed. On one hand, there are some nuggets of good information. On the other, there's quite a bit of dated information that I'm surprised made it into the 2008 edition. Originally started in the 1970 and published in 1971, the 2008 edition was unfortunately the most recent edition I was able to access, although there is another that was published in late 2019, so perhaps the complaints I have were fixed by then. However, the author passed away in 2005 and she seemed to spearhead most of the updating. This 2008 edition is probably better suited for a snapshot of history rather than a how-to guide. So much has changed in the last 5 years that I wouldn’t feel comfortable recommending this edition.
