This is a very much character driven novel, but they are such fascinating characters! I was pulled into this mystery of Amandala finding out about her family, and the stakes definitely get risen by the end of the book. While I wish some of the side characters would have been developed a bit more, overall this was an enjoyable read! Bonus points for it's South African setting because I can't think of many YA books that are set in South Africa.
