This is a retelling of Alice in Wonderland. I know that now (2017) there are many of these, but this book has been out for a while and I would put it up with any retelling out there. I love this book because the power is in imagination. Something everyone possesses. I also loved how they changed the characters to make it a thriller and dark fantasy. Redd is Alice’s Aunt, Hatter M is the princess's private guard (his hat becomes many bladed throwing knife), and the chesire cat is an assassin. Plus the illustration of how the card soldiers come to life. I like this retelling because it gives a masculine take on what is usually considered a very girly story. So if you have been reading Heartless, or the Blood of Wonderland series, then seriously pick up this book. You will not regret it.

I have read this book at least 3 times and this is my second time listening to it. Maybe now I will get to reading the sequel Seeing Redd. No that I am packing to move, I found I had 3 copies. It’s not a hardship to listen to this book. I love it. In particular this time I write my review of the audiobook. The reader has such a way of reading that you can not help but get lost in the telling. Plus where appropriate there is a nice rock music background which fits the story. Plus the tech they do for General Doppelganger is awesome.

This is a novel that I have read and reviewed many times. It is an alternative telling of Alice in wonderland, where her kingdom is ruled by the power of imagination. Her aunt Redd has taken over wonderland with the power of black imagination. Why do I like this book so much? Well let’s start off with Hatter M. He is a part of a Special Forces group in Wonderland whose special hat becomes many bladed throwing knives. Then you have Cheshire cat, aka the assassin with nine lives. Plus everyone travels by mirror and the card soldiers are like something out of Star Wars. I love this book and maybe one day I will get around to reading the rest of the trilogy.
