As far as vampire books go this is definitely the best I’ve read so far!
Nothing about the vampire theme is thrown in your face, it is done subtly and tastefully. I enjoyed the characters in this book as well. I got a “The Originals” vibe from this story for sure with the New Orleans setting.
I highly recommend giving this book a chance and I’m looking forward to reading book 2!

2023 Update:
I definitely agree with everything I said when I originally read it. I still enjoyed this book, I thought the characters were well written and I’m looking forward to rereading book 2 in the series.
I will say I’m not so sure why I loved Bastien so much in the first book, I didn’t love him as much the second time around for some reason. I can’t put my finger on why though
