3.5 stars. I felt that much of this book was thought provoking and really did explain and help challenge some of the issues that plague the age of information.
I also found some of the judgements (?) or blame being out on the “lay person” lacked the complexity of the WHY things were that way or WHY the “lay person” would be challenging some outdate things.
It captures the complex nature of how expertise is dying but it also failed to focus on how some non experts can lend new ideas and visions that experts may not think of or focus on. Many no. Experts lack the financial means or class or social means to necessarily become “experts”. So while I absolutely agree that far too many of us non experts talk a lot of shit we know nothing about, I think it’s far too simple to just write off anyone without a university education as not an expert.
I definitely learned a lot. Appreciated a lot. And left the book with some questions.
But. I’m not an expert on this topic so this is just my opinion.
