Comfortably Uncomfortable: The Road to Happiness Isn't Always Paved
by Jacquelyn Phillips
Inspiring is not enough. Inspiring, encouraging and completely real is closer. What a wonderful look at the work and effort it takes to change, and the reality that people backslide, screw up, get sick and need help. Not a self help book as in “do what I did and you’ll be fine” but more of a good friend telling you the truth. If you are discontent, disconnecting from life, feeling stagnation, boredom or know you can be better but are scared, read this. Even if you think your life is perfect, read this.
We can all get better, but some can afford to do it faster. The author does and excellent job acknowledging the expense and effort it takes, and acknowledged where privilege may have aided her. No hard and fast rules, but if you don’t spend some quality time reflecting as you read, I don’t know what to tell you.
