I didn't realize it until after I finished the book and saw some other feedback about it, but this is definitely a Schitt's Creek-esque inspired romance! Piper is an LA socialite who gets in trouble again and her rich stepdad decides that instead of bailing her out he is going to punish her. How will he do that? Turns out her birth father owned a bar in a small fishing town before he died and it was left in his will to Piper and her sister, so she will go there and have to make her own way for 3 months. Her sister joins her in solidarity and the two do not receive a warm welcome for the most part, especially from local fisherman Brendan. Soon they get to know each other and he realises there is more to her than her spacey party girl image lets on. Word of warning for those who care: this is NOT a door closed romance--nothing is left to the imagination when it comes to sex and attraction (both the act and the thoughts of the characters). Oh and bonus: a second book about Piper's sister and another side character will come out next year!
