Can't Spell Treason Without Tea
by Rebecca Thorne
I enjoyed this book. It's a fun, cosy read that I finished in less than a day.
Comparisons to Legends and Lattes are inevitable and the author does acknowledge that L&L was an inspiration. However here the stakes are somewhat higher, there's a greater emphasis on plot and a little bit less slice of life. There's also more magic, and griffin magical companions (dragons feature too, in a different way).
One element I really like is that the main couple are in a pre-existing relationship. This isn't a romance as such but their relationship is at the centre of the novel and is rock steady - there's no break up, no serious falling out, and I love to see it. I don't see many books at all where a committed couple is the focus, and this is probably the first time I've ever seen it with two women.
Not a new favourite but I'm glad I read this and I do intend to continue with the series.
