Blindsighted by Karin Slaughter
5.0

If you might think you can read "too many" Slaughter mysteries, in my opinion, you'd be DEAD wrong. See what I did there? Seriously though it's so easily to fall right in to each little worlds Slaughter creates as the backdrop for the gruesome deaths her books are centered around and this one (was this her FIRST??) was no different, no less entertaining.

I go in mostly blind to books I pick up, so I was pleasantly surprised to find that Grant County was in fact a place (I know that probably should have been more obvious) and that the lead of the series would in fact be Dr. Sara Linton. Her complicated relationship with her ex-husband Chief Jeffrey Tolliver, a cop she often works alongside as her side gig as the coroner, was a smart addition to the investigation into the disturbingly religious murder of a local blind woman in the town diner. The woman happens to be the twin sister of the PD's sole female detective and proves difficult to handle for both the squad and the coroner, as Sara has a dark piece of her past she'd rather forget but may have to confront in order to provide her ex with a potential lead in the case.

It was impossible for me not to inhale these 400+ pages as the characters did their best to uncover the culprit and I guessed wrongly, a couple times, as to who the murderer must be, and so the final 200 pages absolutely flew by. I'm excited to have gotten started with this new-to-me series and am ready to dive into the subsequent volumes ASAP.
