Leather & Lark
by Brynne Weaver
Summary
Leather and Lark is a captivating hate-to-love dark romantic comedy that follows Lachlan Kane, a brooding contract killer, and Lark Montague, a bright and feisty indie singer-songwriter. When Lachlan botches a job, Lark offers him a deal: use his skills to hunt down a killer, and she'll secure his freedom. The catch? They must get married first, despite their initial dislike of each other.
Characters
Lachlan Kane is a complex and intriguing protagonist, whose dark past and brooding nature make him a compelling character. Lark Montague is a delightful and fiery heroine, whose sunshine personality and hidden secrets add depth to the story. The chemistry between Lachlan and Lark is undeniable, and their romance is both intense and passionate.
Trigger Warnings
This novel contains mature themes, including violence, trauma, and dark humor. However, these elements are not gratuitous and serve to advance the plot and character development.
Favorite Quotes
"I don’t just want to hear her laugh, I need to earn it. Every time I gain a little ground, I want more. I want to break out of the shade and back into her light. Without even realizing it, I’ve become addicted to it. To her." This quote captures the essence of Lachlan's obsession with Lark and the intensity of their romance.
Overall Review
Leather and Lark is a PHENOMENAL read that will consume you from start to finish! At first, I was a bit worried the book wouldn’t be up to the hype like Butcher and Blackbird, but MAN OH MAN was I wrong! Christ Jesus is right! And that bonus chapter?!?! I was also a little bit surprised - I don’t know why I should’ve thought of it but Lark is THE Lark, duh! I also really loved Ethel and her wittiness - she helped raise this book to the favorites list. Brynne Weaver's writing is pure magic, weaving together a complex and suspenseful plot with deep character development. The chemistry between Lachlan and Lark is OFF THE CHARTS, and their romance is both intense and passionate. The world-building is rich and immersive, and the themes of trauma, redemption, and love are expertly explored. 10/10, this book will LEAVE YOU BREATHLESS AND BEGGING FOR MORE! I highly recommend this novel to fans of dark romance, hate-to-love tropes, and complex, morally ambiguous characters. Rating: 5/5 stars.
