Eating Animals by Jonathan Safran Foer

BOOKTUBEATHON 2018 BOOK # 5

Never has my life been more impacted by a book that I have read as it has been with this one.

I have been casually flexitarian for a little over a year. I cooked vegetarian for myself, but when I went out or interacted with food that I was fond of (namely SUSHI and cultural dishes) I would give in. I didn't research more about vegetarianism because I know myself and I knew that I would become more strict about my eating habits. I didn't want to become separated from my culture or other cultures that use meat as staples.

Well, it's happened. This book has opened my eyes to so many things that I didn't know about the reality of factory farms.

I have no shame or hesitation in that I am a vegetarian. What am I going to do when it comes to the things that I was nervous about? I'm still figuring that out. Am I going to eat meat again in my lifetime? Probably, but as of right now, I cannot say that it would happen because I wanted to eat it. UGH I feel like I need more time to meditate on this one because it has ABSOLUTELY changed my life. I may have more to say in a few days.
