This book is 3rd of a series but like the other two, it stands completely on its own. This novel takes place in Civil War time weaving between the stories of 3 main women and the many people that oevot around them: a Black slave, a white plantation owner, and a Northern white abolitionist. Tragedy, betrayal, rescues, and feminism abound.
