Lovelight Farms
by B.K. Borison
Another Christmas read!
This book follows Stella who owns and operates a struggling farm with her friends. To give the fame fhe boost it needs, she drunkenly applies to an influencers contest. When she is chosen as a finalist, the fantasy she wrote about her running the farm with her boyfriend (who is in reality her best friend she's pining for) must come to life...
The Good
The tone of this is so light and fluffy. I knew from the blurb it was going to be a sweet story but it was able to not be too silly in its humor and still cute and funny. Stella and Luka have a really interesting relationship. I like friends to lovers a lot so I really enjoyed seeing how much they understood and supported each other. While this book is a romcom, it also deals with topics of grief that were woven into the story well. My favorite parts were the differing families and their dynamics.
The Bad
This book is very low angst and that made it a little boring at times. The mystery with who was tampering with things on her farm was a decent subplot with a meh resolution. The relationship needed more tension (and not sexual tension as I didn't feel that invested in their chemistry) as we built up to Evelyn actually arriving to the farm.
Tropes:
— Friends to Lovers
— Holiday Romance
— Fake Dating
— Small Town Romance
Horn Level: 2/5
