Emily Henry is a charming writer. It's incredibly easy to take to her books what with her sassy wit and humour. After I read Beach Read by her recently, I very well knew that she has so much more to offer and I wasn't wrong. People We Meet on Vacation is a much better read than her Beach Read in terms of writing and characterization. There's a clear shift in her style which gives a more refined gloss to her book. And God, the romance is so mushy! It would be an understatement to say that I loved reading this novel.

Poppy and Alex meet at the University of Chicago for the first time and are surprised to know that they both belong from the same town of Linsfield, Ohio. Their similarity ends there because the two of them couldn't be any more different. Poppy is a vibrant extrovert who seeks adventure while Alex is a perfectionist who revels in being alone. But the two of them strike an unlikely friendship and become an irreplaceable part of each other's lives. When Poppy's lifelong dream of working for a travel magazine comes true, the two take vacations ever so often but things go awry during one of their trips to Croatia. The story moves back and forth in time as Henry covers their decade long friendship. The book is narrated by Poppy and it's so fun to read from her perspective and the sexual tension just makes it all the more exciting.

People We Meet on Vacation is a wholesome read, one that makes you believe in love and friendships that are worth fighting for. I definitely recommend this.
