Ambiguous endings drive me a little insane and this one felt that way for me. It was also frustrating that Vera would ask approximately 0 questions throughout the book. And I never did find out what "sugaring" was? I know Vera's father wasn't getting waxed.. so what did this mean??
I didn't like the characters too much either. Daphne was mean, James was awful, Brandon was also a disappointing character, and Vera herself was no peach either.
I'm not sure if the ending was meant to be a figment of Vera's imagination or if the house was in fact the monster and "alive." I guess I choose to believe this was a paranormal book and I liked the idea that the house was filled of parts of all the characters. They were leaving an imprint on the house.
