Ai Yazawa has a gift for writing complex characters who take you on an emotional rollercoaster and then end with a strong hit of nostalgic melancholy.

The real love story of this book is between George and Isabella and I'll die on that hill. They perfectly encapsulate platonic admiration and acceptance of each other and I love their connection so much.

The rest of the relationships are just MESSY. George and Yukari are toxic as hell but also...i get it. Very glad she ends with the healthier choice but also its bittersweet because that passion she had with George is intoxicating.

Arashi can just fucking choke honestly. He is a transphobic abuser with a terrible personality. I hate that Miwako ends up with her abuser but I suppose, similar to Hachi in Nana, this adds to the realism of Yazawa's writing.

As usual the fashion and art style of this is beautiful and I need every single outfit like now.
