England, 1580: The Black Death creeps across the land, an ever-present threat, infecting the healthy, the sick, the old and the young, alike. The end of days is near, but life always goes on in this national best seller and winner of the Women's Prize for Fiction.

I read this book for my work book club pick and I absolutely loved it - David Mitchell was right, it’s utterly dazzling. Maggie O’Farrell’s prose is next level - only something a true talent could write.

Characters: 10/10 - all were so interesting, so well developed. They all play such a special part in this story.

Atmosphere/Setting: 10/10 - 1580s England during the plague. So well written and made me feel like I was actually there. I could picture Agnes and her childrens’ daily life in their village.

Writing: 10/10 - Can I rate this higher than 10? Dazzling, atmospheric, captivating.

Plot: 10/10 - Nothing was disappointing

Intrigue: 10/10 - From the beginning, I had to keep going. I actually borrowed this book from the library and then bought a copy because I KNEW I had to annotate it.

Logic/Relationships: 10/10

Enjoyment: 10/10 - Again, one of the most incredible books that I have ever read.
