The Darkest Minds
by Alexandra Bracken
I've been on the wait list to read this book from my library for what feels like forever. Finally, I got my hands on it and boy was it worth the wait. I've always been a fan of the dystopian genre and this first book in the Darkest Minds series did not disappoint.
I was intrigued right away with the idea of a "disease" spreading through children and how the adults, especially the government would react to such a thing. There are many parts in this book that are downright devastating. I was close to tears at several points.
There is a definite cliffhanger and I am anxious to get my hands on book two. There was a bonus story in the back of the copy I read, however, that helped. It's a story about Liam and his brother Cole before he met up with Ruby. I really do like Liam and I hope we will see more of him in the future books, in spite of what Ruby felt she needed to do at the end of book one. I also would love to see more of Chubs and Zu.
