An amazing read. Magnificent characters, great plot, and Hwang's use of language/genre is perfect. This play includes all the desire and salaciousness one could desire lol. Themes of power, sexuality, fantasies, interpersonal relationships between men and women, women's status, trust, loyalty, homosexuality, secrets, deception - you name it it's here in M. Butterfly. Great writing from Hwang, I wish I could have seen the play live. I need to see it acted out in play form. I definitely recommend this play. It's short enough that you could read it in one or two days, but I know the themes will haunt you for a few days...it's just what I like to read.
