jackpot manages to not only be a very emotional insight into growing up poor while surrounded by richer peers, but a very fun adventure for a lost lottery ticket. nic stone captures the whirlwind of being a teen girl finishing high school, trying to balance work, family, crushes and the pressure of the future all while carrying a household on her shoulders with a gas station paycheck. the ending was a little too easy for me and i wasn't satisfied by the romantic wrap up, but otherwise this was a fast and fun one.
