nicolealycia 's review for:
The Scorch Trials
by James Dashner
I liked this book way more than I liked The Maze Runner. I liked the storyline, the added characters, the inability to tell what the hell was going on ever. I just thought it was a really solid story.
Now, I read this book before, but it was like 5 years ago when it first came out so this was like reading it again for the first time. Plus I saw the movie last month and that was so different. So here are ........
Things I liked from the book that weren't in the movie:
1) Not a lot of Teresa; not a fan of hers so I was glad there wasn't too much of her in the book
2) The mission: I like that they had a set mission in the book, make it to the safe haven. Why couldn't they have done that in the movie?
3) The girls: I loved that there was another group and that they were all girls, it was the perfect contrast. How hard was it to stick with that. Plus the little addition in their mission made things even more interesting!
4) The ending (don't worry, no spoilers) but I just thought the ending was so much better and set up such a better third book than what the movie ending would have set up.
5) The Cranks: I liked that they were actually human in the book, not some creepy super zombie like in the movie.
If you read all of this you're a gem and I hope my rant wasn't too annoying :)
