Katherine and Michael, high school seniors, meet at a New Year's Eve party and hit it off. The book follows their relationship, with all its ups and downs. This is the YA sex book that shocked my mom's generation, and I have to say that I wasn't shocked.

Instead, I was sort of...vaguely disappointed. I really liked Katherine at first, but as the book progressed I began to find her frustrating. She has a lot of angst, but I felt like her narration was devoid of any real emotion- I didn't really feel anything. Michael was pretty much irritating the whole way through.

Plus there are also some side issues that interfere with the main plot but don't go anywhere/aren't very nuanced, like homosexuality, teen pregnancy, and suicide. Overall, this book is FINE but I didn't think it was anything special. And too many freaking ELLIPSES!!!!
