Birthday Girl
by Penelope Douglas
Ok, this book gave me major “not like other girls” vibes and I didn’t love it.
I didn’t think I would enjoy this book because of the age gap, but that isn’t why I didn’t particularly enjoy it. I struggled more with the trope that Jordan is better than other girls and just better all around. The author kind of shoves that down our throats as a way to explain why the age difference is less taboo.
I was initially going to give it 2 stars, but the epilogue made it 3 stars. This was my first Pen Douglas book and I will be reading more to see if any of their works are better or if this is as good as it gets.
