I honestly can't say if this was a book about a bland female protagonist, or about men projecting themselves onto a woman who's only allowed to exist through their projection.
I chose to interpret this as the latter, which makes the story even darker in my opinion.
I might have liked it almost as much as I did Uzumaki.
