Honey & Spice
by Bolu Babalola
The two main characters still linger in my mind. I loved seeing how their love for each other developed. It was beautiful. I am glad the miscommunication trope was not as toxic as I thought. I don't like when miscommunication tropes are steeped in toxicity. It can be hard to stay in the story, and this book hooked me from the first page that I had to keep reading. This is a love story of when two unlikely characters with seemingly different opinions on life but within the same culture fall for each other but try their best to deny each other what was there. There are also themes of friendship and how friendship breakups can cause just as much harm to oneself as romantic relationships.
