Despite the fact that I really didn't like the main character (I get it, he's lonely and scared but he's still annoying and full of himself) and the science-y sections sort of lost me, the story sucked me in. I read this in only a couple of days because I needed to know how it was going to unfold. The other characters besides Watney were pretty one-dimensional and there were so many NASA characters that I got confused occasionally. But Weird knows how to craft an engrossing story, and it was enjoyable watching it unfold.
