This is the weirdest book I have read in a long time. Thankfully I was warned by all the negative reviews this site is full of; they are correct, of course. The characters are self-absorbed assholes, hurting others (and themselves). Sex, drugs, and rock and roll, and by rock and roll I mean depression. There is no plot (yes, stuff happens, but it's an all-over-the-place mishmash that has no clear direction), the pacing is slow, and the writing is not particularly good.
And yet. I loved it. No, I was fascinated by it. It was way out of my comfort zone and I needed that. I was reading only comforting books with loveable characters for quite some time now, and it was time for a change. I didn't like the main character, but I saw myself in him in some ways. I knew his struggles. I understood his pain. I didn't like his decisions but I thought they were realistic.
And I couldn't stop reading. I'm going to continue with the series, I want to know what these disasters are up to :)
