OK. Count me among those who are a bit burned out on vampires. But, I trust Holly Black, so I was excited to read this. I love her vampire worldbuilding and the obsession with vampires on reality television & blogs etc.

I liked the way the narrative occasionally interspersed with news stores/blog entries--personally, I would have been happy with even a few more blog entries.

The story is DARK. I mean, Holly Black does dark, so not too big of a surprise, but... just FYI. Dark. Dying. Torturing. Etc.

I assume there will be a sequel? I'll definitely read it, since this ending is so cliffhanging! And I especially want to see what happens with

Tana and Gavriel? Like on one hand... I think I'll be disappointed if they get together, because Tana seems too smart for that... but on the other hand, the heart wants what it wants, and maybe it wants a glamorous, mentally unstable vampire. At least she's going into it eyes wide open.

Oh, and I thought it was cool that there was a transgender teen character and a bit of meta about how trans*people might fit into the world of vampires. Holla.
