Miss Matched by Wendy Million
2.0

I received this title as an e-ARC on Edelweiss in exchange for a honest review. Thank you publisher for the copy!

The Good
The concept of this book was fun and inherently full of angst. You pay an exorbitant amount of money for an algorithm to give you a match and it ends up being your ex-boyfriend who broke up with you. Second chance romances are 50/50 for me. The are either incredible or awful fully depending on the reason for the separation. In this book, I felt like it was a realistic issue: bad communication, fear of commitment, and fear of missing out.

The Bad
However, Simon was a difficult character to root for. I am thankful we get his point of view as readers are able to understand him better, but did I like him? No. Was I truly rooting for a romance between them? No. I didn't see real growth in him, he repeated the same patterns and expected a different result. I needed this book to really convince me to root for these characters to be together and it failed to do that. I wanted Tayla to move on more than anything. I think one of the main issues was Simon's inability to be honest and genuine from the start. He had to be manipulative and play games to even get a chance with her and still couldn't be real until he felt like it.
