Spellslinger

This is a very fast paced novel, I completed it in one evening. I enjoyed it a lot and was gripped by it, but somehow it never quite made that key step into being something I loved.
The plot felt very familiar, with a lot of elements I have seen many times over, but it was well written and at times quite emotional. The main characters were interesting but I didn't find myself really falling for any of them. The world building was decent, although I hope it is expanded on more in later books of the series.
Overall I enjoyed it but I don't know for sure if I'll ever pick up book two. I think the fast pace may work to its benefit, as if the sequels are anything like this first book, I could pick them up on days when I just want to read a book from cover to cover without stopping.
