To Kill a Mockingbird
by Harper Lee
I picked this book up at a half priced books because I had never read it. That was a year ago.
I brought it with me on our road trip and I honestly couldn't put it down.
I feel this book tells the tale of southern America in the 1930s well. It's a time when racism is still high and kids run the streets. It takes time to get there, but we learn Scout (the narrator) and Jem's father (Atticus) has been assigned to defend an African American man accused of raping a white girl.
Through this and time, we see Atticus teach his motherless children about life. This book was written in the 50s, a time when racism was still a problem. I believe this book was the author's opinion on that. Harper Lee wrote a wonderful book. But due to what I've heard, I'll leave Go Set a Watchman on the store shelf.
