Heartless by Marissa Meyer
4.0

{4.5 stars} I read this on my e-reader, I read about 80 pages until I picked up the audiobook and finished the whole book in two sittings. I suggest the audiobook, it's the way to go. The narrator, Rebecca Soler is excellent and she does the voices of every character very well! My favorite character was definitely the Cheshire Cat, he was hilarious and had me cracking up during his scenes. This book was just so incredible, I don't even have words for it! I love, love LOVED it! It was my first Marissa Meyer book and my first Retelling. It was really great.

However, I do feel that it wasn't quite a 5 star book. I felt as if Marissa assumed the reader had known the world of Hearts and it wasn't really built up. I was looking up things, usually that related to Lewis Carroll's story. Also, I would have liked to see more of the characters from the tea party - but this wasn't a Alice in Wonderland retelling following Alice, so I understand.

It was also slow while reading and I was glad I picked up the audiobook because it made the story quicker.
