fast-paced
June 7, 2025: 5/5 stars
I actually thought this was my second time reading the series, but based on my reading history I realized I'd only read until issue #42 out of 50! I didn't own the Omnibus at the time, so maybe I just didn't realize I missed some crucial final issues.
This really is one of my favorite Marvel runs, because I love the unlikely pairing of these two different personalities, who are both controversial figures within the Marvel universe in very different ways. As someone who reads Marvel but doesn't follow the stories as they come out, I also appreciate how, while this series does reference events going on in other parts of the Marvel universe, it still has an overall plot that is coherent all on its own, and resolves major story arcs for both title characters.
I used to consider this series a 4-star read, but after this (mostly) reread, I ended up loving it so much I had to bump it up to 5 stars. Maybe I'll change my mind after some time, but for now I can't help but consider this one of my favorites.
