filmingpages 's review for:
Romanov
by Nadine Brandes
A book I really wanted to like but ended up being a disappointment. It's focused on the last days of the Romanov family but this time, the story has very prominent magic elements.
Well, the magic system was non existent, there was no explanation whatsoever about how the spells actually work and it felt like every time someone used a spell, it was because the author found it convenient for the plot.
Something else I didn't like was how blindsidedly it favoured only one side of history, that of the Romanovs, which is a bit sad, because it's supposed to be a historical fiction novel as well. Also, it made Rasputin a good guy and almost a hero... so if that doesn't say much about the historical aspects I don't know what will!
