Me and My Christmas Familiar

“Meow.” Lachlan understood Kit perfectly. Kit sat on Lachlan’s lap, paws on the table, facing everyone. And more importantly, the chicken. “Wait just a little longer,” Lachlan whispered. “Meow,” Kit meowed woefully. How long until he could eat? How long was he meant to suffer? He’d already waited forever!
ARC review
This was super duper cute and I got sucked into the story quickly. There is something about a shifter stuck in their animal form that I love. 10/10 microtrope for sure. A friend told me they cried a lot while reading this and I was quite far into the story and thought ‘this isn’t even sad?’, and then I cried actual buckets shortly after, lol. A short book but it had a cool premise, lots of cute moments, some steam, etc. I really enjoyed it.
Don’t worry about the christmas theme and title. There’s barely anything about christmas in the story, so it can be enjoyed year round.

Kit had had enough. Hissing, Kit darted between them, showing Tony his teeth and flattening his ears. “Whoa!” Tony’s eyes widened. He took several steps back on his hoofed feet. “What in the world—” Kit prowled after Tony, still hissing. The faun stumbled. “Kit! What’s gotten into you?” Lachlan grabbed Kit around the waist and lifted him into his arms. Kit rubbed his cheeks, lips, and chin all over Lachlan, marking his witch with his scent. Mine. He glared at Tony.
Lachlan needs me. He’s hurting. I need to soothe him. But Lachlan was hurting because of Kit. And so Kit did not know what to do.
