Okay so I read it with an open heart and mind. And Im not sure why anyone would call this a rip off of ACOTAR. There are some super surface level similarities but otherwise... 🤷🏻♀️. It is a book about Faerie, I'll give you that.
I enjoyed this series overall. (Even this love triangle trope was redeemable in my eyes 😆) The stakes were high and the sacrifices all of these characters made for the good of the Courts was stressful and heartbreaking at times.
I love the fae folklore that Lexi Ryan incorporated. It felt like a very successful first YA fantasy series. (And I didn't realize Ryan is not typically a fantasy author).
I will say though, by the 70% mark I was getting nervous because there was still SO much left to be worked out. The last 30% of the book really progressed fast. Maybe a little too fast? I was left with some questions by the end.
I love that this was a duology but I feel like it could have almost benefited from being a trilogy, if only to flesh out some of the storyline so it didn't feel rushed.
