Some of the stories were sillier than others but almost all of them were tinged with sadness. An unfortunate number of them dealt with domestic violence and patriarchal oppression, both things women all over the world deal with every day. I enjoyed the glimpses into the lives of the 14 different Syrian women and the Syrian culture and I hope Anna Halabi graces the world with another collection or book soon!
