I went into 'Ankle Snatcher' by Grady Hendrix with high expectations, given the author's reputation for crafting unique and unsettling horror stories. Unfortunately, this novella fell short of my hopes. While Hendrix's writing is as evocative and atmospheric as ever, the narrative felt disjointed and meandering, struggling to find a clear direction. The characters, too, were somewhat one-dimensional, lacking the depth and complexity I've come to expect from Hendrix's work. The horror elements, while occasionally unsettling, didn't quite coalesce into a cohesive whole. Overall, 'Ankle Snatcher' feels like a misstep from an otherwise talented author. Perhaps die-hard Hendrix fans will find something to appreciate, but for me, it was a disappointing read.
