I'm giving this 3.5 stars, rounding up to 4! There is a lot to like about this book: the characters are great (especially Pony's sister, Rocky! I love a good sibling relationship). Important discussions are had. And for a lot of people, I think it can be incredibly educational.

There were times, however, where the two narrative voices weren't quite distinct enough for me. Sometimes I would have to flip back to remind myself who was narrating. And there were a few things that needed to be acknowledged, like the situation with Max. Being an ally to someone means supporting them through every stage of the coming out process, especially when they're not ready for that.

But! A good read, and an important one.
