She's Too Pretty to Burn
by Wendy Heard
dark
mysterious
tense
fast-paced
I read this book in a matter of hours! The writing makes it so readable and it just flies along. There were some slower moments but I felt that most of it was just sort of action packed.
It has a great LGBTQIA+ representation.
This has been compared to The Picture of Dorian Grey but as I've not read it, I can't tell you what it might be similar.
It's parts an art story, but some is the art is nefarious in nature. It's also the story of the blossoming romance between Mick and Veronica. They are both helping Nico out with his "art installs" that step by step gets more dangerous for all involved.
The girls, especially Mick, get deeper and deeper involved with Nico to scary results. The conclusion is open ended thick and that bugs me a bit, but it would be forgiven if another book came as a sequel.
