Lazarus Remembered is a family drama, with our protagonist Pete forced to confront his father after 30 years when he gets the call that his mother is dying. He returns to Australia from the UK, not quite ready to face up to the past. Harper writes complex family dynamics really well, and I loved the friendship between Pete and Jason. She also has a good handle on the dual timelines throughout the book. I really didn't know what to make of the ending though... I didn't see it coming that's for sure.

This was a pretty unique audiobook experience, as it was more like listening to a play, there were sound effects and everything! There were also songs and music, but it wasn't really my type of music and I preferred just listening to the story. Some of the sound effects really heightened the atmosphere, but I could have done without some - like vomiting 🙈 But overall something really different and one to look for if you like a good domestic drama.
