This was a mixed bag. The descriptive writing was beautiful, but then the dialogue was very stilted and it didn’t really feel like actual conversation. The character work and relationships were not done well at all. Whether or not you like this book will be dependent on if you like the romance, which I really did not like. It was very insta lovey, and it felt like there was no real reason for them to be so attached to each other. The whimsy scenarios and scenery were beautiful, but didn’t last long as we jumped from place to place. That being said, there was some really great ideas and settings in here. I loved the paper cranes and that whole section of the book with Haruto.
Also, this book felt very pro life…..I don’t know if it was intentional by the author but it made me feel icky. All of the women are very focused on motherhood, and the women that have decided that they didn’t wish to be mothers, have that decision be their biggest regret…..did not like that.
