A Game of Thrones: The Graphic Novel, Volume One
by Tommy Patterson, George R.R. Martin, Daniel Abraham
This is a good adaptation, from a narrative standpoint. It hits all the beats I remember from the book. The source material is undoubtedly great.
However, the art direction is uninspired and in some cases silly. It tries too much to be superhero art, which is itself continually questionable, and lacks what I would call the GoT spirit - an area where I think the show nails it. The female proportions in particular are borderline insulting. The entire book is also riddled with typos, which is shocking to me. How can a graphic novel adaptation of the biggest series in fantasy right now not have top tier editing? It’s just lazy and my guess would be it was rushed to meet some early deadline.
Worth looking at, but largely disappointing.
