A Quiet Life in the Country
by T.E. Kinsey
This was delightful. I had a lovely time reading this, and it's probably the cosiest mystery I have read to date.
If I'm honest, the murder mystery itself is nothing special. It's a bit over the top, and too many people turn out to be criminals to really seem credible. There's so much to love about the book though - the main characters are compelling and have a wonderful friendship despite the differences in their stations; the Inspector was very likeable; the writing is extremely easy to read; and the 1900s country setting gives it a cosy, traditional feeling which deliberately echoes classic mysteries.
This is the first book in a series which so far has 10 titles. I plan to read them all.
