The Extra-Ordinary Lives of Blue Haven
by Sylvia Kim
4 teens (Sarah, Grace, Jamie, and Carlos) live and meet at Blue Haven where their families move after getting hit hard financially or otherwise.
They each have their own family struggles. Each have to do what they can to help keep their families afloat. They start meeting up at 3 am on the swings too talk about their dreams and hopes and frustrations. They find a solace in each other where they can't elsewhere.
This story was beautiful. It deals a lot about the human spirit and the hardships we have to endure. It shows we are all different. The adults in their lives are not bad people (just one or two make bad decisions) and they really try their best to do what's right for their kids.
As they each slowly leave Blue Haven, we get to see how their lives are still impacted by the place and where life has taken each of them. There is a lot of sadness and I was in tears at the end. Such a good book.
Thanks to the author for sending me a copy.
